San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

The International Museum of Women (IMOW) today opened its 2012 global online exhibition MAMA: Motherhood Around the Globe, which explores emerging issues, unique challenges, and changing perspectives of motherhood throughout the world. The newly launched exhibition can be found at http://www.imow.org or directly at mama.imow.org and expects to attract more than 100,000 visitors over the next nine months. The exhibition will showcase original creative works, including art, film, music, photography, essays and interviews, reflecting the stories, visions and voices of motherhood from more than 60 countries—with more than 200 works to be rolled out by September 2012.

The exhibition aims to inspire a global conversation about mothers’ lives and rights in the 21st century and to boost awareness on issues such as improving maternal health worldwide. According to the United Nations (2010), a woman dies every 90 seconds from preventable causes during pregnancy and birth. As part of the exhibition, global maternal health advocate and founder of Every Mother Counts, Christy Turlington Burns, has joined the Museum to present an online visitor pledge for maternal health rights. With a goal of 10,000 signatures, the pledge will be delivered to governments and policy makers, culminating with a special presentation in conjunction with the UN General Assembly in September 2012.

“Our MAMA exhibition presents a unique snapshot of mothers today. It is one of the most profound, insightful, and poignant expressions of motherhood ever assembled in one place online,” said IMOW Executive Director Clare Winterton. “Visitors will experience the joys, creativity and leadership of mothers from around the world. They will also get a unique insight into the challenges today’s mothers face on issues from health to balancing work and family, as well as into too often taboo subjects including miscarriage, infertility and the choice not to have children.”

“As a mother, a global maternal health advocate and founder of Every Mother Counts, I’m thrilled to support the MAMA exhibition,” said Christy Turlington Burns. “The diverse stories by mothers from all over the world are an inspiring way to educate the public about maternal health issues, and I encourage people to visit the website to take part in a global conversation on the challenges and possibilities facing mothers today.”

The exhibition features a wide range of powerful contributions with visitors invited to share deeply personal experiences of motherhood from around the world: a Colombian woman gives birth amid an inadequate medical environment; a Nigerian woman talks about the impact of infertility on her marriage; an artist shares wooden sculptures, which symbolically portray what it is like to go through a painful miscarriage; and an embroidered art piece educates the world on what not to say to women who choose not to be mothers.

The exhibition, which will be featured online through September 2012, will feature eight galleries on different topics to be rolled out monthly. Each gallery will focus on a different dimension of contemporary motherhood and will include a remarkable body of work including videos, multimedia art, ideas for the future from global thought leaders, a short story collection, and profiles of heroes who work to improve the lives of mothers and children.

The eight galleries include:

Fine Treatment Announced New Thermobalancing Therapy Selected to Appear on 21st Century Health International TV Series as Unique Chronic Diseases Treatment

Fine Treatment Announced New Thermobalancing Therapy Selected to Appear on 21st Century Health International TV Series as Unique Chronic Diseases Treatment

Thermobalancing Therapy Treats Lower Back Pain

London, UK (PRWEB) December 18, 2011

Dr. Simon Allen explained that internal chronic diseases are caused by the lowering of the temperature locally that leads to the spontaneous growth of the capillary net. In essence, these extra capillaries become an additional tissue inside this area and this additional tissue creates an internal pressure within the affected tissue, slowly developing a disease. That’s it. So this physical factor leads to the origin of diseases. It means that to recover from a medical problem in any specific organ you have to eliminate the damaging physical factor in the first place.

What is the difference between conventional treatments and the Thermobalancing Therapy? Medications, such as drugs or infusions are not able to remove this physical factor and these treatments may not reach the damaged organ or area at all. That is why inefficiency of the treatments with tablets and infusions, including herbal, lead to different surgeries. However, the surgery is dangerous because of possibility of bleeding or infection, and furthermore the operations on the organs can damage their functions in the future.

Fine treatment with the Thermobalancing Therapy has been selected to appear on 21st Century Health International Television series. In essence, Dr Allen’s breakthrough research findings show that most chronic health diseases are caused by certain processes at the capillary level, leading to angiogenesis. This growth of the tissue increases the pressure inside the organ impairing its proper functioning.

“The Thermobalancing Therapy is effective as it halts and reverses progression of chronic diseases by tackling their cause”, says Dr. Simon Allen. “Unfortunately, medication cannot do it and thus in many cases of internal chronic diseases they are ineffective.”

Watch videos on this page that show you how to use the Thermobalancing therapy for a prostate treatment and how Fine Treatment’s patient has shrunk his hugely enlarged prostate at home. He presented medical documents in support of his statement. They prove that while he has been waiting an open prostatectomy surgery and wearing Dr Allen’s device for 2 years the prostate has decreased in size from 130 grams to 37 grams and the open prostatectomy surgery has been cancelled. Other evidences of the Thermobalancing Therapy efficacy which are incredible as well have been analyzed by Oxford Innovation Centre and will be discussed soon.

Public Memorial Caps The End of XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006)

Public Memorial Caps The End of XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006)

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) July 27, 2006

The International AIDS Vigil, a public memorial to those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, will take place Thursday, August 17, 9 PM, rain or shine, at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, Canada. The event, a project of the 519 Church Street Community Centre, brings to an end the week-long activities of the XVI International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2006).

“We believe this is a unique opportunity for the local community to join together with conference delegates for a moment of remembrance and reflection,” says Jocelyn Watchorn, Co-Chair of The International AIDS Vigil Committee.

The AIDS International Vigil will begin at dusk with a symbolic candle lighting ceremony and end with the illumination of thousands of glow sticks. The event is expected to attract many of the political, scientific and community leaders working on the front lines of the pandemic as well as a wide representation of people from affected communities. Along with music and readings, the hour-long memorial features the “naming of names”, a poignant moment where the names of the deceased are called aloud from the stage, and from the audience.

The format of the AIDS International Vigil follows a tradition established by the Toronto AIDS Candlelight Vigil, one of the longest running AIDS vigils in the world and a highlight of local Pride Week festivities. Established in 1985 as a humble gathering of friends and family members behind the 519 Church Street Community Centre, the Toronto AIDS Candlelight Vigil has developed into an annual event, which takes place in Cawthra Square Park, in the heart of Toronto’s gay village. The park is home to a permanent AIDS Memorial. Over 2,500 names are etched into the pillars of the memorial, including the name of the man who was the driving force behind the project – Michael Lynch.

The International AIDS Vigil acknowledges the profound devastation HIV/AIDS has wrought within the gay and lesbian community and salutes the leadership role played by that community in the fight to overcome this deadly disease. At the same time, it recognizes the impact of HIV/AIDS on people all over the world. To that end, organizers of the

vigil welcome anyone who may have experienced a personal loss or losses due to HIV/AIDS.

The International AIDS Vigil will be sign language interpreted and wheelchair accessible. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds go to the Ontario AIDS Network Positive Action Fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to people with HIV/AIDS.

For more information, call the International AIDS Vigil info line at 416-392-6878, ext. 312 or visit the 519 Church Street Community Centre Web site at http://www.the519.org.

Electrical Safety Foundation International Launches 2010 Holiday Safety Campaign

Electrical Safety Foundation International Launches 2010 Holiday Safety Campaign

Arlington, VA (Vocus) November 4, 2010

Earlier today, the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) announced the launch of its annual holiday safety campaign, encouraging families and communities across the country to Make Safety a Tradition of the holiday season. The winter holiday season is traditionally a festive and eventful time of year. Celebrations, family gatherings and visits from houseguests traditionally increase in number during the season. Unfortunately, statistics show that incidents of home fires and electrical accidents typically increase during the winter holiday season as well.

According to a recent consumer survey conducted by the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), nearly 60 percent of people plan to host guests in their homes during this holiday season.

“Preparing for the arrival of guests in the midst of the hectic holiday season can be challenging,” cautions Brett Brenner, president of the Electrical Safety Foundation International. “While festive decorations and savory food may seem like the most important aspects of holiday entertaining, remember not to overlook the safety of your guests.”

This holiday season, ESFI is teaming up once again with The Home Depot to create a safety awareness campaign with the goal of focusing national attention on the safety concerns specific to holiday activities.

In addition, ESFI, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is educating Americans about safety concerns associated with holiday entertaining, focusing specifically on child safety, decorating and decreasing the risk of home fires.

As a part of this holiday safety program, ESFI has prepared a Holiday Safety Community Toolkit that is organized to align with the campaign itself, providing consumers with a collection of new resources to help them become safety-conscious hosts and houseguests this season. In addition, ESFI’s seasonal website features tips, facts, statistics, trends, and safety reminders to help keep families and communities safe this season.

ESFl’s complementary 2010 Holiday Safety Community Toolkit can be downloaded at no cost on the Foundation’s seasonal website, http://www.holidaysafety.org.

“It is critical that families remember to keep safety in mind while enjoying this exciting and extremely busy time of year,” reminds Brenner. “A proactive approach to safety will help you give the gift of safety to your family and friends this holiday season.”

Visit ESFI’s holiday safety website, http://www.holidaysafety.org, throughout the holiday season for all of the safety tips and tools you need to Make Safety a Tradition for your family.

The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) is the premier 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to promoting electrical safety at home and in the workplace. For more information about ESFI and electrical safety, visit http://www.electrical-safety.org.
