SunGard Enhances Customer Experience with Latest Releases of AvantGard Integrity and Quantum Treasury Solutions

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 27, 2012

The latest releases of SunGard’s AvantGard Integrity and AvantGard Quantum treasury solutions provide enhanced usability and functionality to help customers gain increased visibility to cash and risk across the enterprise. SunGard’s AvantGard Treasury suite offers a broad spectrum of solutions from basic cash management to sophisticated risk analysis.

The new release of AvantGard Integrity is available in two editions: the Xpress Edition (XE) addresses basic treasury requirements while the Corporate Edition (CE) includes more sophisticated cash and treasury management functionality. The new Integrity releases offer treasurers interactive dashboards and a new, highly configurable reporting tool to help enable easy extraction of data into user defined views including cash positions, balances, foreign exchange positions, rates, intercompany positions, and more. The new interface also helps the treasurer on the go by delivering easy to use interfaces for popular mobile devices such as Apple iPhone, iPad and Android.

For more complex corporate treasuries, the new version of AvantGard Quantum offers sophisticated risk analysis capabilities and is available as the Enterprise Edition (EE). Corporate treasurers will be able to create personal workspaces that help them establish specific analytics and frequently used models for multi-national scenarios and global financial risk analysis. Configurable dashboards and upgraded reporting functionality are among the many new features included to enhance the user experience.

“In recent years, many corporations have focused on centralizing and standardizing their finance systems and operations, often as part of an ERP initiative,” according to Nigel Rayner, research vice president at Gartner. “These organizations are now turning the same lens on their treasury operations, looking for ways to improve the effectiveness of those operations through the centralization and standardization of treasury systems and processes. Corporate treasury applications are the technology foundation that can support centralized treasury operations.”

Recent awards demonstrate the continued leadership of AvantGard Treasury. Global Finance magazine named SunGard the “Best Treasury Workstation Provider” for AvantGard in its 2012 rankings of Treasury and Cash Management Banks and Providers; the eighth consecutive year that SunGard AvantGard has earned this distinction. In addition, Financial-i magazine recently named SunGard’s AvantGard the 2011 “Leader in Innovation” in the Treasury Management Software category due to the solution’s eBAM capabilities, connectivity, widespread adoption, and private cloud deployment option.

AvantGard Integrity and AvantGard Quantum both offer the benefit of managed bank and SWIFT connectivity through a unified platform with value-added services such as eBAM for electronic bank account management. These solutions can be deployed on premise, in a private cloud hosted environment, or as a SaaS* model. The new versions are now available to new and existing customers.

SunGard Financial Systems is transforming the way its software solutions are created and delivered to its customers. With the introduction of a new visionary, integrated technology blueprint, new delivery models are created and additional functionality embedded. Underlying technologies include a service-oriented architecture (SOA) development framework, a business process management platform (Infinity Process Platform) and a delivery platform to enable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based solutions.

3D Imaging Helps Cosmetic Surgery Patients Visualize Results

3D Imaging Helps Cosmetic Surgery Patients Visualize Results

Wyomissing, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) February 25, 2012

Dr. Benjamin Schlechter who specializes in augmentation in the Lancaster, PA, area, is now offering Vectra® 3D imaging for his plastic surgery patients. This technology helps patients ease their uncertainty prior to a procedure by using digital imaging to create pictures of potential results.

“I’m always looking for ways to improve the surgical process and methods for helping women and men feel more comfortable with a proposed procedure,” Dr. Schlechter says. “Vectra 3D imaging helps patients visualize what they may look like after recovering from plastic surgery procedures. This creates a more efficient consultation process and minimizes the guesswork associated with choosing the most effective procedure.”

Using three-dimensional pictures of a patient’s physical features, Vectra 3D imaging is able to capture small details to create an accurate digital image. Dr. Schlechter then uploads the image into Sculptor™ software, where he is able to make small adjustments for his patients near Allentown. Liposuction and other cosmetic procedures can be improved through this technology.

“Vectra 3D imaging enables me to create images of what patients could look like after a procedure,” says Dr. Schlechter. “Once a patient looks at the potential results, she or he is able to give feedback. From there, I can make minor adjustments to the plan to create the desired results. This back-and-forth discussion helps patients visualize how they can enhance their appearances, and it assists me by creating a more accurate picture of their likes and dislikes.”

Dr. Schlechter explains that most of the uneasiness from patients prior to surgery comes from a fear that their plastic surgeons in the Lancaster, PA, area don’t fully understand their desired results. Vectra 3D imaging helps relieve this fear by creating digital images that both the patient and the surgeon can see and agree on.

“Vectra 3D imaging is a great way for patients to create a more accurate picture of their potential results,” Dr. Schlechter says. “Although this software is extremely advanced, it should be noted that variations in results can still occur. With this information in mind, patients can use this technology to feel more comfortable with surgery and more assured about getting beautiful and natural looking results.”

Dr. Benjamin Schlechter is a board-certified plastic surgeon at the Proserpi-Schlechter Center for Plastic Surgery (http://www.pscps.com/) near Lancaster, Penn. He offers a full-range of plastic surgery options for the face, breast and body, as well as many non-surgical procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and laser hair removal at his medical spa. Dr. Schlechter received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, and completed residency in general surgery at Case Western Reserve University and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He is affiliated with many professional organizations, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Schlechter is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has more than 20 years of experience.

Erallo Technologies Awarded SBIR Phase II to Develop a Smart Sensor Monitoring System for Bridges

Erallo Technologies Awarded SBIR Phase II to Develop a Smart Sensor Monitoring System for Bridges

Littleton, MA (PRWEB) February 24, 2012

Erallo Technologies, Inc. (Erallo) announces the award of a $ 730,000 Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army Contracting Command and Bridge Engineering Team (RDECOM-TARDEC) to develop a smart sensor monitoring system for the Army’s Line of Communications Bridges. The goal of this research is to develop an integrated structural-health monitoring system to identify and quantify structural damage, like micro-cracks, as well as determine the “remaining life” for safe crossings over the bridge. In the future, this technology could also be used on temporary bridges in place across the US.

The purpose of this bridge monitoring system is to prevent warfighters from prolonged exposure to hostile attacks during in-depth and time consuming visual Army bridge inspections – and to ensure the safe crossing of Army vehicles, especially heavy equipment, like the M1 Abrams tank. The objective of the system is to identify structural damage normally missed by visual inspection and to record the volume and weight of traffic passing over the bridge. The system will use real-time data captured from ruggedized strain gauge sensors and embedded, on-board computers to process the data. Mathematical models and algorithms to identify the signature of micro-cracks and extrapolate a bridge’s “remaining life” are under development. The aim is to develop a sensor system that can operate as a low-cost, low-power, and low-maintenance bridge monitoring system.

The system is being developed by Erallo Technologies, which specializes in wireless sensor network for critical remote monitoring needs; and the Constructed Facilities Center at West Virginia University (CFC-WVU), known for their research and expertise in bridges, damage detection systems, and structural evaluation algorithms.

Raj Zambre, CEO/CTO of Erallo Technologies, commented: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to further the research and development of this smart sensor monitoring system. Our ambition is that the system will provide an accurate and inexpensive way to determine the condition of bridges.” Dr. Hota GangaRao, Professor and Director of WVU-CFC, commented further: “Visual inspections are time consuming, subjective, expose soldiers in hostile environments – and can’t achieve a reliable determination of early crack detection at a mili-level, much less evaluate an entire bridge system for the remaining number of safe crossings. With the number of US Army controlled bridges in place, a reliable, remote monitoring system could help safeguard the lives of our warfighters.”

About Erallo Technologies, Inc.

Erallo Technologies is an 8(a) certified small business specializing in wireless sensor networks for critical monitoring needs. Their solutions provide unique sensor-based processing and automated remote monitoring capabilities for real-time detection, surveillance, and reporting to meet the demands for defense and industry applications.

Sleep Training Solutions Presents Two Seminars for Exhausted Parents Seeking to Solve Their Child?s Sleep Problems

Sleep Training Solutions Presents Two Seminars for Exhausted Parents Seeking to Solve Their Child’s Sleep Problems

Sleep training empowers parents to solve sleep issues so everyone can enjoy a good night’s sleep

Winnetka, IL (PRWEB) February 22, 2012

To help parents avoid common pitfalls and eliminate sleep issues they are experiencing with their children, Kim Schaf, M.A.T., Owner of Sleep Training Solutions and Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant will be offering two different seminars to help parents solve their child’s sleep issues.

Research on child sleep issues estimates that up 33% of children experience problems with sleep, according to several studies in the journal Pediatrics. Furthermore, a study was published in Pediatrics in January 2012 by researchers at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center who found that children do not necessarily outgrow sleep issues. With these statistics on child sleep issues, it is no wonder parents are trying to educate themselves on how to promote healthy sleep habits for their children.

“Parents will finally be able to get a good night’s sleep after implementing the information I give them, whether they have been struggling with sleep issues for months or years,” says Schaf. “If bedtime is struggle, a child is waking 3 times each night, waking at 5:00am or not taking restful naps, these seminars will empower parents so they can solve the sleep problem quickly.”

A free seminar, 7 Tips to Better Sleep, will be offered on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 3:00pm. Participants will learn the seven biggest tips to getting their child to sleep well, and how to avoid the common mistakes many parents make regarding bedtime, naptime, routines, and sleep props.

On March 3, 2012, a Sleep Sense™ seminar will be offered from 9-12pm. This comprehensive and interactive seminar will help parents solve their child’s specific sleep problems, including issues with bedtime, night wakings, naptime and early rising. Parents will learn about the special sleep needs of infants and toddlers, the negative effects of carrying a sleep debt, how to develop a fun and practical bedtime routine, and common pitfalls that hinder healthy sleep. Parents will take home a Sleep Plan based on their own unique situation that can be implemented immediately to solve their child’s sleep issues. The value in this seminar is in the follow-up support—each couple (or participant) will receive one week of unlimited email support from Schaf to answer any questions that come up after the seminar to ensure successful sleep training. This seminar is geared toward parents with children ages 3-18 months. Space is limited to only 12 couples (or individuals) so early registration is recommended. The cost for the seminar is $ 150 and registration is required.

Sleep Training Solutions will present both of these seminars at Adeline’s Room, 602 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60201.

For questions about the content of the seminars or to book a future seminar, contact Kim Schaf at (847) 386-6285. To register and submit payment for these seminars, contact Christine at (847) 859-2312.

Nike US Sports Camps Coach Offers Hitting Tip for 2012 Summer Softball Camp Attendees

Nike US Sports Camps Coach Offers Hitting Tip for 2012 Summer Softball Camp Attendees

Coach Jodie Holava

San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2012

US Sports Camps Coach and Defiance College’s head coach Jodie Holava offers her expertise on the fundamentals of hitting and provides a suggestion to youth softball players that their swing should begin with a “negative movement.”

“In summer softball camp we train our players that as a hitter prepares to hit a softball, they need to establish a trigger as a timing mechanism as well as a preparatory movement to drive the ball. This begins with what most hitting coaches refer to as the ‘negative move’ or ‘load,’” Holava states. “During the negative move the hitter begins to shift her body weight in to the back leg as well as separate her hands from her starting position to a load position towards her back shoulder. When loading your hands, it’s important to move your hands back on the same plane to get into this strong attacking position. We want to limit any up or down movement to give us the best opportunity to hit the ball squarely.”

Holava believes that each hitter can get to this position in their own way, but getting there is a key element to hitting with ultimate power. “Like the stance, hitters can have their own special flair to getting into this position. However, it’s important that all great hitters reach this strong position in time to drive the ball. You need this load in order to gain momentum and power to drive the pitch. It’s very difficult to do that if you tried to start your swing from a stationary position. Think about trying to throw a softball right from your shoulder, without any windup it’s very tough to get any velocity on the ball. Same with the swing, it’s very tough to get any bat speed! Happy Hitting!”

After just six seasons as the head coach of the Defiance College softball program, Jodie Holava is nearing the most wins in school history with a 144-108 overall record. Holava’s .571 winning percentage is the best by any coach in program history. To get more tips and instruction from her check out her Nike Softball Camp at Defiance College.

Attorney William Marler Calls for Raw Milk Warning Labels

Attorney William Marler Calls for Raw Milk Warning Labels

Raw Milk Warning Label

Scotland, PA (PRWEB) February 15, 2012

In the wake of a 65-person Campylobacter outbreak linked to unpasteurized (raw) milk produced by Scotland, Pennsylvania-based dairy, The Family Cow, food safety advocate and attorney William Marler is calling for warning labels to be placed on all raw milk products.

According to Food Safety News, The Family Cow is currently working to improve the safety of its raw milk by installing advanced testing equipment and updating procedures. And, although he recognizes the effort, Marler believes raw milk producers should help consumers become more knowledgeable of the potential dangers of raw milk.

“Unlike many others that have been in this position, The Family Cow has owned its mistakes and is clearly trying to create a safer product,” said Marler. “That said, when it comes down to it, dairies like this are selling a raw animal product which could carry an increased risk of foodborne illness.”

In Pennsylvania alone, there have been at least seven foodborne illness outbreaks linked to raw milk since 2006 according to the AP. Totals show that over that span at least 250 people were sickened after consuming raw milk products that were contaminated with either Campylobacter or Salmonella.

Marler says that proponents of raw milk advertise its potential health and medical benefits such as the prevention of asthma autism, cancer, and Crohn’s Disease. However, outbreaks such these give others cause to caution consumers of the risks associated with raw milk.

“Frankly, very few of the benefits associated with raw milk have been scientifically proven, but they do make for good marketing,” Added Marler. “In the best interest of consumers, I would like to see a warning label on raw milk products.”

Marler would like to see a label with language similar to the following:

Unpasteurized milk, also known as raw milk, is a raw agricultural product and may contain harmful bacteria (not limited to E. coli, Campylobacter, Listeria, and Salmonella) and can lead to serious injury or even death. Pregnant women, infants, children, the elderly, and persons with lowered resistance to disease (immune compromised) have higher risk for harm, which may include bloody diarrhea, vomiting, fever, dehydration, Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, Guillian-Barre Syndrome, Reactive Arthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, miscarriage, or death.

Marler Clark is the nation’s leading law firm dedicated to representing victims of foodborne illness such as Campylobacter, Salmonella, and E. coli. The firm works actively with academia, industry, government, and consumer groups to end foodborne illness. The Longevity Opportunity in the U.S. is Comparable to Emerging BRIC Markets

The Longevity Opportunity in the U.S. is Comparable to Emerging BRIC Markets

Lafayette, California (PRWEB) February 13, 2012

In 2011 the first of the baby boomer generation began turning 65 years old. Near daily stories in the media are generated about the issues, needs, impact, influence and sheer size of the eldest of our population. The growing discourse includes changes to retirement trends, the fact that the 55+ age group is the fastest-growing segment of entrepreneurs, the call to advertisers that they can no longer afford to ignore this audience, and announcements of new outlets catering to these demographics. From aging-in-place technologies to social and mobile media, to the spending power of grandparents, the overall wealth of opportunities in meeting the needs of this mature market is the purpose of the ninth annual What’s Next Boomer Business Summit, being held March 28 in Washington, D.C. There the country’s leading analysts, top researchers and executive strategists will gather to introduce new research, products and services, and to present the definitive ways to reach and successfully sell to baby boomers and senior consumers. It is the event to meet the entrepreneurs and brand teams pursuing the baby boomer customer, and learn the marketing strategies that work to reach them.

It opens with a keynote delivered by veteran political strategist Donna Brazile, on ‘Designing a Personalized Business Model for the New Economy’. Jody Holtzman, SVP of Thought Leadership Group at AARP will define and examine the entrepreneurial and market opportunities related to the new Longevity Economy. His keynote will unearth current economic activity related to the demographic phenomenon of people living longer, richer lives and will address areas where the needs and wants of Americans 45 and older are not being met. Also, he will present a new framework for approaching both the societal needs and economic opportunities related to a changing and vital population.

The event tracks will explore trends in the following areas, with agenda highlights:

    Innovation and frugality
Baby boomers have the money and desire to bond with their grandchildren, but given today’s investment climate, will there be money in the future for them to inherit? Moderator Lori Bitter, President, Crew Media, will get Jodi Olshevski, Assistant VP, The Hartford, Robert Stephen, VP, My Home & Family Portfolio, IVS-Portfolio Management, AARP, and Sandy Timmermann, Assistant Vice President, MetLife and Director of the MetLife Mature Market Institute to tell what are the changes and choices in work, retirement, and for money protection that older adults can make to thrive in the age of lowered expectations.
It is the mature consumer segment that is currently generating the most interest and excitement–grandparents. The grandparent economy is large (40 million), growing and lucrative. Grandparents are spending money on necessities, learning and luxury for their grandchildren. They are investing in tuition, tutoring, and technology. Missy Sullivan, Senior Editor of the Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money, and Robert Stephen, VP, My Home & Family Portfolio, IVS-Portfolio Management, AARP, identify the business ecosystem of brands baby boomers are embracing with this new role.
Baby boomer women are the chief purchasing officers, chief caregiving officers, and chief healthcare officers for their families. They often influence purchase decisions in travel and investment for themselves and extended families. Myrna Blyth, Editor in Chief of ThirdAge.com shares insights from her inspiring panel of women in new media and business.

Integrated media and marketing, social, mobile, gaming
Moderated by Deborah Jacobs of Forbes, the ‘Tech Trends’ session will answer what mature consumers want most from their smart phones, tablets, and the Internet itself. Laurie Orlov, Founder, Aging in Place Technology Watch, and Lee Rainie, Director, Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, will present the latest data to answer this, and discuss how that information can drive investment and strategies of companies small and large.
‘Boomer Trends in E-tailing, Retailing and Mobile Commerce’ session delves into dramatic changes in consumer buying behavior in an online and mobile world. It is forcing retailers to think, staff and partner in new ways. Moderated by Gail Kirby, PhD, Marketing, Santa Clara University, she will have Jeff Hasen, CMO, Hipcricket and Candace Corlett, President, WSL Strategic Retail navigate the multiple-channel world of today.
Attendees will discover the latest trends in how companies are using media to drive leads, with industry leaders that include AARP’s Director of Social Communications & Strategy, Tammy Gordon.
Beth Carpenter, Digital Distribution, AARP brings with her one of the many bright minds from Google for the in-demand session ‘Using Google, Facebook and Twitter to Build Your Business’ that will aid businesses by showing them how to leverage Google’s many free products to maximize web traffic, conduct search engine optimization, and use tools such as Ad Words, Twitter, and Facebook to connect and engage potential customers.

The new service economy of housing, caregiving, mobility and healthcare
The prospect of a stalled homebuilding industry creating a surge in age-in-place remodeling is explored by Steve French, Managing Director, Natural Marketing Institute (NMI), and Gail Gibson Hunt, President & CEO, National Alliance for Caregiving. They explain why wireless home health technology will blossom in the face of health reform, and debate if the growing number of caregivers (and their policy influence) will get the attention of Congress.
The ‘Health Services 3.0’ panel will consider the businesses that are meeting baby boomers on their technology platform of choice when it comes to managing their health. Examining the burgeoning mHealth realm, this panel will include Jeff Shoemate, Vice President of Innovation & Business Development, United Healthcare-Medicare & Retirement, Ilya Oshman, SVP, FP&A, Weight Watchers and Charlotte Yeh, Chief Medical Officer, AARP.

Bay Area Mobile Cannabis Lab Offers Free Potency Test

Bay Area Mobile Cannabis Lab Offers Free Potency Test

Botanitec provides mobile third-party medical cannabis testing in the Bay Area and Northern California.

Fairfield, CA (PRWEB) February 11, 2012

With increased federal scrutiny of California’s medical marijuana industry, many growers and dispensaries are getting serious about providing only the highest quality medicine by having their products tested for purity and potency. Botanitec, an innovative new Bay Area mobile cannabis lab, is helping medical cannabis providers get started by giving away a free potency test with the purchase of a minimum of three potency tests. The friendly, experienced lab techs at Botanitec make testing simple and convenient. This offer expires on February 29th.

“This is just our way of saying ‘let’s get acquainted,’” explains Mary Williams, founder of Botanitec. “The future of the medical marijuana industry depends on providing patients with safe, effective medicine. Having your medicine tested and certified will help you get ahead in the industry, and we’re here to make it easy for you. Call us now to take advantage of this special offer.”

The state-of-the-art mobile cannabis lab allows Botanitec to test and certify product at the source, reducing risk of contamination. Botanitec screens for chemical contaminants (insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides), biological contaminants (bacteria, fungus, viruses and parasites), and physical material hazards (bug parts, metal, plastic, soil, etc.). The Bay Area marijuana testing service also tests for potency (THC, CBD and CBN content) and moisture levels.

There are currently no uniform quality control standards for medical cannabis, so Botanitec created the CannaQA Certification Program to give medicinal marijuana patients assurance that products bearing the seal are certified safe by an unbiased third party. CannaQA certification includes nitrogen-sealed packaging to preserve purity, a certificate of conformity bearing the testing lot number, a label on each bag with test results, a tamper-proof CannaQA card for dispensary/website display, a Patient Portal where patients can access a password-protected website to see the test results on their medical marijuana, and HIPPA level client confidentiality.

Implementing strong cannabis quality assurance and control systems and certification with lot date code traceability ensures the medical cannabis patients receive is of the highest quality possible. Botanitec provides the information medical marijuana patients need to know their medicine is safe and comes from a tested source that demonstrates concern for patient health and safety.

“Our mobile testing lab will come to you, making it easy to get your medicine tested for safety and potency. And our CannaQA certification program reassures patients and regulators that you use only best practices,” explains Mary.

New clients can take advantage of the free potency test with purchase of at least three potency tests until the end of February 2012. Limit one free test per customer.

About Botanitec

Botanitec is a Bay Area marijuana testing service that serves growers and dispensaries across Northern California. Unlike standard pot testing services, Botanitec has a mobile cannabis lab, which enables them to deliver highly accurate, timely results to their clientele. Botanitec offers quality assurance to medical marijuana patients through rigorous testing and analysis of product samples, which includes screening for chemical contaminants, biological contaminants, physical material hazards, potency and more. Botanitec also offers the CannaQA Certification Program, designed to give patients confidence that medicine bearing the CannaQA seal is clean and safe.
